YWIE season

One of the great delights of serving in a stake calling is getting to visit the wards.  We do this at least twice a year.  It's YWIE season, the time of the year when we gather and review the purposes of the young women program, (to bring the girls to Christ, to develop Christlike characteristics and to prepare to go to the temple and make and keep sacred covenants) and to showcase what they have been working on this year.

Each ward is different in how they do this, and actually it's different from year to year.  Sometimes it's a church dress event with a reverent feel, sometimes it's more light hearted with a fun theme and activities.  Always it's just really lovely.   Since we have 10 wards and there are 4 in our presidency (typical) and we like to go in pairs, that means we each get to go to 5 YWIEs.   Last night I went to the first of my 5, the Bayside ward.  I was amazed when I walked into the gym, it was so beautiful.  They chose "diamonds in the rough" as their theme and the girls sang the most beautiful song.  They had some really nice talks and they had their projects displayed.  It was AwEsOmE!!

It's so fun to go and see the girls and their leaders, to visit, and to enjoy their wonderful programs.  I'm looking forward to the next 4!
In the boxes they had diamond keychains or chocolates for the girls to take home.
