Weblo Outdoorsman Camp out

T
To earn the Arrow of Light a Weblo must earn his outdoorsman pin, as well as some other things of course.  Well our den doesn't do camp outs (as per church policy) so the weblo families decided to have a family camp out and do all the outdoorsman stuff.  I am very grateful for the scouting program.  I think it is a huge force for good.  It really  helps boys, and girls, develop a good character as well as many other positive and admirable things.  Anyway it turned out to be a really fun night.
Laura hosted, I invited people, everyone brought stuff and we put the boys to work.  They had to do an environmental project.  They dug a ditch and lined it with rocks so the weather would not erode the driveway.
They had to help prepare their own dinners, they made foil dinners as well as dutch oven apple cobbler and smores.
They had to learn about "leave no trace", fire safety, front  woods etiquette and set up their own tents, sleep in the tents and tie some knots.
All these activities went well.  Now the boys and dads are left to sleep in the tents (hope it's not too chilly)
Ziva accompanied us.  She was a a good little dog and loved the scrapes of cheddar brats that everyone kept slipping her.
It was a fun night and a good distraction from the sadness of Dani, Sierra, Tatum and Penny going home.

We had the best visit.  I will miss them tons until we are together again.
