Youth Conference day 1. So much fun. We had to get up at 5, which wasn’t so much fun, and meet at the stake center. The theme this year is survivor and the kids got into their tribes before we took off for the events of the day.
Then we pretty much just got on the bus to go to the Itchitucknee River for tubing. It poured rain most of the way down and I was dreading the cold water and I was wondering how it would go. It turned out great! The rain stopped before we got there and the skies were a gentle blue the whole time we were floating. It was nice outside, not too hot. The water was cool but not awful at all,and floating was really fun. We saw so many turtles and birds and fish. The river was clear and the foliage looked prehistoric with its bright greens, big leaves, twisty trees and over hanging canopies.
I loved it and would go back tomorrow! The kids had a blast laughing and floating. The boys were wild but also so funny and helpful. Some people kept getting stuck in the river grasses and the boys came to help each time. At the very end Ivana slipped getting out and hurt her knee. Ethan saw and said he’d better stay and help his mom out of the river so when I got there he was waiting and ready to give me a hand. I have such a good boy!
After the river and lunch we rode the buses back and then had lawn games and pizza .
We had a giant foam slip and slide that was enthusiastically used for a long time!
Dinner was pizza. There were tribe competitions and hidden immunity idols. I am a little sad to miss the last two days.
Nana and Abba and UB arrived for a quick weekend visit. Mostly we are gathering for Makayla’s birthday on Saturday but we are happy to have tomorrow to spend together too!!
Another happy summer day under our belts❤️
