We got here!

We left our house at 4am pacific standard time on Monday morning and arrived in Tel Aviv at 5pm Tuesday afternoon (local time)
Our flights were long and our airport time was long. The flights were safe and smooth and we were able to get some sleep though so that was awesome!
This is our yummy airplane breakfast.

Here we are when we finally landed. The plane was super hot and I was very sweaty!

We met our tour guide, Doran, who is super nice and very knowledgeable. He is actually from East Africa. His family is Israeli and he went to speak Hebrew when he was growing up so when he was 16 years old he moved to Israel by himself. After a decade in the is Israeli army where he was eventually part of the special forces and he where he earned his bachelors degree he wanted to get a masters in political science with an emphasis on what factors led to Christianity becoming a separate religion. The University in Israel did not have a Masters program and so they sent him to Harvard.

He got his doctorate and then spent the next 20 years teaching in the universities several months a year and living the rest of the time in Israel. He retired last year and is now a full time tour guide. He is very interesting and I’m looking forward to hearing his lectures.
We took the tour bus to Netanya where we are spending the night. It is right on the Mediterranean Sea. After dinner Rob and I walked out and took this picture but unfortunately you can’t actually see the water.

We are staying at the four seasons and the hotel is super nice.

The people we are traveling with are all super nice. I am excited to be here and excited for the upcoming week!

I put in a picture of the room service menu. It would be tough for us to get something we wanted!

FYI 1 US $ is equal to about 3 shekels.
